The Lyceum Theatre London (ATG) Deep Clean – June 2021

Located in the West End of London, The Lyceum Theatre is home to Disney’s Lion King and has been for over 20 years. We were contacted to help support the theatre reopening following lockdown by providing a deep clean to the inside and outside of the building to ensure a safe environment for both performers and the public when they returned.

A huge thank you to the team, every area we asked for (often at the last minute) was cleaned to a high standard, and we had some really grotty jobs for you at times too. We couldn’t have got the building back into the condition it is, so thank you again - Tamsin, Manager

One of the biggest challenges for our team was working to an extremely tight deadline, the opening night. We also had to be extremely aware of the busy, constantly changing environment with performers, support staff, technical staff and theatre staff all working in and around the venue. We had to adapt several times to accommodate the client’s needs, as they needed areas cleaned and made safe quickly and vacated to allow access to performers and staff.

We ATP tested specific areas pre-clean and then deep cleaned all dressing rooms, green rooms, offices, makeup rooms and puppet rooms as well as all bars and eating areas, including the popcorn stands.

The internal deep clean consisted of a complete clean from top to bottom. All ceilings, walls, mirrors, windows, glass, sockets, switches, desks, inside all fridges, microwaves, showers and toilets were thoroughly cleaned, leaving nothing unturned. Once this was complete, we sanitised all hard surfaces and performed another ATP test to ensure that all areas had been sufficiently and safely cleaned. All soft furnishings (upholstery and carpets) were also cleaned thoroughly using wet chemical extraction.

Two days before the grand reopening a specialised team cleaned the externals of the building overnight. To do so, we meticulously soft washed all walls, pillars, posters, signs and windows to ensure that the public was left with a striking first impression of such an iconic building.
